I wanted to remind you that as Christians, we are in a spiritual battle with a spiritual foe. Satan’s strategies are to distract us from this battle and to cause division among us. He often uses people to do this, and it’s easy to blame our problems on others. However, behind the scenes of these conflicts, Satan is lurking, pulling the strings and pushing the buttons in this invisible war.
One of Satan’s primary strategies is to use people to engineer our spiritual downfall by driving wedges between us that shatter our unity and draw our focus away from the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s important to remember that God is a God of unity, and He is present where oneness (although 3 distinct persons) abounds. We must always be on guard against Satan’s tactics, and work towards reconciliation and unity with other Christians. Matthew 10:16 reminds us that “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.”
Take some time to reflect on where there may be wedges driven in unity between you and other Christians. Consider where you may have erred in the other direction, ignoring truth in order to “get along” with someone. Is there anyone in your life with whom you need to be reconciled, or to whom you need to confess that you have been living under a false peace of ignoring truth? Remember to always be on guard and to turn to God in prayer for wisdom and guidance. He will give you the strength and courage to live our lives in unity under Him.
